2016 (Tentative) Information Session Schedule Now Online

2016 will be another exciting year to learn and stay up to date with the latest and greatest in our industry. Our information sessions held in a dedicated section at our West Melbourne showroom are offered as a free service, because we firmly believe that the more informed we are, the better for everyone involved.

Here’s our tentative list of all the sessions we hope to have through out the year.
Please note that this is just a proposed list and dates and although we have confirmed with the majority of our suppliers, session dates and topics are definitely subject to change.

FEB 2016 Commbox Specifying a control system
Control systems should make controlling technology simple, yet too often, it has the opposite effect. To investigate some applications of control, we’ll do a case study on a class room and a case study on a home.
04 MAR 2016 Quest Running audio in commercial venues
We’ll learn how to run audio around all sorts of commercial venues from factories, gyms, buses to nightclubs. Public Address concepts like 100V line, low impedance, load testing, zoning and speaker types are explained.
MAR 2016 Resi-linx Distributing audio and video around a home, business or football stadium
There are a thousand ways to distribute Audio and Video around a home, business or football stadium! We look at some of the most popular methods (IP and RF) and some extra considerations like quality, control and set up.
01 APR 2016 NESS Setting up a standard home security system
Most home security systems are pretty similar, involving sensors (PIRs, reed switches), a panel and some programming. We look at specifying and setting it up one such system (D8). We also check out the new web based alternatives.
15 APR 2016 Radio Parts Specifying and setting up a CCTV system
Domestic CCTV systems are now more powerful and stable than ever before. Getting a CCTV system working has never been so simple. Having said that, a professional installer needs to do a better job than Joe Blogg. Ben will give us a overview and then teach us the ins-and-outs of a professionally installed IP CCTV system.

Following upon the first session, once the NVR or DVR is set up, we need to tackle a range of options from camera selection, cabling types and how to power everything.
MAY 2016 Yamaha A multiroom audio system that does everything
The multiroom audio concept is based on the idea that you can freely roam your house or work place and freely listen to music. Up until recently, only Sonos could do that well. In 2015, everything changed. Yamaha MusicCast (released August 2015), could suddenly do those jobs that weren’t previously possible. HD audio. Any source including CDs or turntables. A bigger portfolio of products with serious audio credentials. The ability to link up other wireless brands via bluetooth. Finally, a seriously good App and user interface.
MAY 2016 Bluesound HD multiroom audio (Sonos alternative)
Bluesound has been pigeonholed as the HD Audio alternative to Sonos. Its App and product suite looks familiar, but it has been created by a serious audio company. Bluesound is a part of the Lenbrook stable which is proudly shared with world famous PSB speakers and NAD. So expect the smarts of a class-leading system with benchmark amplification and speaker technology.
10 JUN 2016 Vogel’s TV, projector and speaker mounts
TVs, speakers and electronics are used everywhere from homes to shops to even transport. We need to know how to mount TVs, tiled them, hanging them, suspend them, motorise them and even transport them! Every TV mount problem will be solved in just 1 hour!

Home theatre involves careful planning, much of which starts with the brains of the operation. No, not you. We’re talking about the AV Receiver. So we start from the room. Speaker placement and distances. Sound processing. The subwoofer/s. Matching the components. Understanding power output. And finally, choosing the ideal source (a [UHD 4k] Blu-ray or streamers etc).
NOV 2016 B&W Designing a Hi-Fi (2 channel) system
The audio world is cloaked in black magic. So how do you even discuss high fidelity audio with a discerning customer? We’ll briefly cover terminology like soundstage, frequency response, timbre, tonal balance, bright, muddy, colouration, dynamics, detail and loads more! The session will involve some demos on the great Bowers & Wilkins CM10 floor standers, showing musical detail that many of us may have never had the opportunity to appreciate.
