4K isn't just 4K
There's a great deal of difference between various 4K
material and 4K equipment.
Netflix for example have 4K content and also premium
4K content with HDR (greater contrast). The standard
HDR 10 probably isn't supported by any entry level
media players at this time, let alone 12bit Dolby Vision.
Obviously investing in a decent media player has never
been so important.
HDCP 2.2
HDCP 2.2 is the latest effort by industry to kerb video
piracy. HDCP 2.2 is a standard feature of 4K Blu-ray.
It won't add anything to the visual experience, but it
will cause headaches. The problem is that there's no
backward compatibility, so every piece of equipment in
the chain will need to support HDCP 2.2. From the 4K
Blu-ray player to the AV receiver to the TV.
Short of upgrading all your equipment, there are work a
rounds. Notably, you can use the
Pro2 HDCP2214
or if
your AV receiver isn't HDCP 2.2, you can also run your
HDMI lead to your new TV and then run an optical lead
between the TV and AV receiver.
HDMI certification is now
critical!
HDMI Licensing require an Authorised Test Centre
(ATC) to approve HDMI leads based on construction
and performance. This gives us peace of mind that
a lead will work both first time and in the future.
Because it's so important, we are posting all ATC
certificates online.
Further to this, we are testing every brand in-house to
see if they actually support 4K.
Check out the results at
a.pro2.com.au/hdmi
.
We will also be one of the first to affix the new anti-
counterfeit HDMI labelling, proving that HDMI have
tested all our products!

5M HDMI PRS LEAD
Hight speed with Ethernet kordz
For Full HD (1080P), most well constructed passive leads
will work to 15m. Early 4K testing has indicated that passive
leads will run to a maximum of just 5m! The Kordz PRS 5m
lead is one of the best constructed cables in the industry
and unsurprisingly performed perfectly at 5m.

the Samsung UBDK8500XY (on demo). The great thing
about 4K Blu-ray is that you can buy a disc from anywhere
in the world - no more zoning. Also the 4K player is fully
backward compatible with standard Blu-ray's and DVDs.
Look for the 4K Ultra HD symbol at the top of the Blu-ray
Disc packaging.
