Watch Yamaha’s promotional video for the XDA-QS5400 and XDA-AMP5400 products that were used in conjunction with The Project Fitness gym in Yarraville, Victoria.

The audio system in the gym came out exceptionally well and the performance has been great!

As an overview the configuration that was used is:

1 x XDA-QS5400 with a single zone used
1 x XDA-AMP5400
4 x Pairs of VXS8 speakers in black

All channels are bridged and the XDA-QS5400 triggers the power on the XDA-AMP5400 using the supplied trigger cables and all amp channels are fed using the supplied jumpers.  The speakers are spaced along the main wall at about 3.5m spacing all mounted on the supplied speaker brackets and tilted down to hit the centre of the gym space.

One of the design considerations was that the gym space is shared with a Café at the front of the building and a spin class studio as well, so the coverage needed to be even without too much spill into the adjacent areas.  Additionally as the space is a brick wall building with a high tin roof the acoustic energy needed to be minimised to avoid having a large echo, or muddy reverberation.
