Introducing Yamaha Surround:AI

Yamaha has pioneered DSPs since the mid-’80s. For those not familiar with DSPs, it means Digital Signal Processor and involves manipulating digital signals in real-time to provide the desired result. You might be watching a movie and want to hear the dialogue more clearly. Yamaha has a mode for that. Yamaha has another mode for Sci-Fi and another mode for music. In fact, even the humble RXA1080 has another 21 DSP modes on top of those. So you would normally select the desired mode before the movie and hope for the best. Surely no one would change modes during a movie depending on whether it’s action, dialogue or music? Yamaha has considered this issue and now introduced AI learning on their higher end receivers. Just like a car that learns to drive itself, the new Yamaha Aventage receivers will learn to select the correct DSPs on their own and on the fly. You can even watch the On Screen Display as the receiver transitions from one DSP to another. This will be a standard feature of all the ’10, ’20 and ’30 series Aventage receivers.
